This is something which would pose some unique security challenges but looking at the article (linked below) they seem to have done a reasonably nice job, though it is difficult to tell without all the technical details. I particularly like the touch of see through cases to stop the inmates from hiding things inside.

Actually I thought the interesting part was despite running Ubuntu:
"The interface we chose was designed to resemble Windows as closely as possible so when prisoners are released back into the community they are still familiar with where things are in the Microsoft [operating system]"
Perhaps the shape of things to come with Linux as it seeks to compete on the desktop?
